About the role
Citizens Advice organisations across Essex are recruiting Energy Advisers to provide impartial advice and casework to households experiencing fuel poverty, energy debt and other energy-related difficulties.
Help with energy bills, supplier problems, tariffs, payment methods, meters, grants and energy efficiency.
Advocate for clients, follow up enquiries and escalate problems where appropriate.
Identify wider benefits, debt, housing and financial inclusion needs and make effective referrals.
Deliver advice in local offices, community venues and, where required, clients’ homes.
Maintain accurate case records and record outcomes.
Who we are looking for
We particularly welcome candidates with recent experience of accredited, quality-assured advice, including Citizens Advice, other advice charities, debt advice or housing welfare services.
Strong applicants with transferable skills will also be considered, provided they can reach Citizens Advice generalist adviser competence quickly through training, supervised practice and assessment.
Level 3 Energy Awareness, or an appropriate equivalent, is desirable. You should be willing to develop your specialist knowledge further.
Working locally and travelling
These are place-based roles, with travel across your delivery area and home visits where required. Some hybrid working may be possible, depending on service needs and local arrangements.
You must be able to travel reliably. A driving licence and access to a car, or another suitable way of meeting the mobility requirements, is needed.
